Recap: September
2023-10-02
It's the start of a new month, and what better way to begin than to give a recap of last month? September was full of action for me, so let's jump in!
University
If you follow me on the fediverse you may have seen that I received feedback on my Master's Project this month. That effectively closes up the last 5 years of my life and what a lovely way to end it on! I'll be receiving my Master's Degree with Distinction in November which I can add to the BSc with First Class Honours I received last year.
New (Old?) Job!
Straight after submitting my Master's project, I immediately jumped back into the role of gameplay programmer for the VR indie studio I worked with at the start of my Master's Degree. Even though I have some mixed feelings on their approach to game design, working in VR again has been a fun experience. There's even been some fun perks...
Event Exhibitor
During the final week of September I attended an event on behalf of the studio to exhibit their game. Getting to witness non-VR individuals quickly grasp the movement mechanics I wrote was immensely rewarding, and I had a lot of positive interactions. The event itself was interesting too, although I had a few gripes with some talks that I may write a later blog post on (specifically Mixed Reality discussions).
Looking Forward
October should be a much quieter month, other than work my only plans are more blog posts and working on some personal projects involving the Playdate and another mystery piece of hardware.
Thanks for reading!
